JerMar Warriors Sickle Cell Alliance, Inc.
JerMar Warriors Sickle Cell Alliance, Inc. is a nonprofit organization created by Paula Knowles in honor of her bonus son, Jermaine “Jer” Knowles, whom she loved as her own, and inspired by the lifelong journey of her daughter, Marissa “Mar” Knowles, who lives with Sickle Cell Disease.
Jermaine’s mother, Angela Carter, serves as the organization’s Director of Advocacy and Community Relations, and Jermaine and Marissa share the same father, Ervin Knowles, who serves as Vice President of JerMar Warriors Sickle Cell Alliance, Inc. Together, their family story reflects unity, love, and a shared commitment to serving warriors and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
The name JerMar represents their bond and legacy — Jer for Jermaine and Mar for Marissa — symbolizing family, faith, and the strength of warriors everywhere.
Our organization was created from personal experience, family love, and a commitment to ensure that no warrior or family ever walks this journey alone.
We are dedicated to empowering individuals and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease through education, advocacy, and community support. Built on the values of compassion, unity, and service, JerMar Warriors works to raise awareness, provide vital resources, and create safe spaces where warriors feel seen, heard, and supported.
Through community outreach, educational programs, hydration and wellness kits, remembrance events, and strategic partnerships, we strive to improve quality of life while inspiring hope and resilience in every warrior we serve.
